But it wasn’t until the release of “One Night with the King,” a film adaptation of her story, that audiences were truly able to immerse themselves in all the drama and intrigue.
The movie, which was released in 2006 and directed by Michael O. Sajbel, stars Tiffany Dupont as Esther, Luke Goss as King Xerxes, and John Rhys-Davies as Prince Admantha. It tells the story of how Esther, who was originally named Hadassah, went from an orphaned slave girl to one of the most powerful women in ancient Persia.
The film is based on the biblical book of Esther but takes some creative liberties with its storyline to make it more engaging for modern audiences. The plot follows Hadassah’s journey from her home in Judea to the court of King Xerxes in Susa. There she is chosen to be part of his harem and eventually becomes queen after winning his heart.

She plays off of Goss’s Xerxes well, portraying their growing love story in a way that feels genuine and earned.
