Amityville: The Awakening – A Hauntingly Good Horror Film
Amityville: The Awakening is a highly anticipated horror film that was released in 2017. It stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, and Kurtwood Smith. The movie tells the story of a single mother named Joan (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who moves her family into a house in Amityville, New York, where they begin to experience strange and supernatural occurrences.
The plot revolves around Joan’s son James (Cameron Monaghan), who falls into a coma shortly after their move to the house. While James is in the hospital, his sister Belle (Bella Thorne), begins to investigate the history of the house and discovers that it has a dark past. As Belle delves deeper into the history of the house, she becomes convinced that there are evil forces at work in their home.
One of the most interesting things about this film is its connection to real-life events. The story is based on the Amityville horror story which took place in 1974 when Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered his entire family while they were sleeping. After he was arrested, DeFeo claimed that he was possessed by demons and that they had forced him to commit the murders.
