The story begins with a man (Sharlto Copley) waking up in a pit full of dead bodies and no memory of who he is or how he got there. He wanders through a forest until he stumbles upon an isolated house where he meets other survivors, all equally confused and traumatized. Together they start piecing together their pasts and try to figure out the cause of the deadly virus that’s wiping out humanity.
One of the strengths of “Open Grave” is its cast. Besides Copley’s stellar performance as John, we have Josie Ho as Sharon, Joseph Morgan as Nathan, Erin Richards as Lucy, Max Wrottesley as Michael and Thomas Kretschmann as Lukas. They all deliver remarkable performances that elevate the film’s suspenseful atmosphere.
